Lacey Family
Most of the information I found in the beginning when researching the Lacey family was from death certificates of Nicholas and wife Mary Jane Lacey nee Reid
Both certificates showed they were married in Cumberland England but the dates seem wrong. Mary Jane Lacey nee Reid's death certificate also shows her father who was William Reid and that she was born in Wicklow Ireland
and from the date a approximate year of birth 1840..Nicholas Lacey was born in Enniscorthy Ireland sometime around 1844 and his certificate doesn't have his fathers name
The Certificates show where they passed away and from what, Mary Jane Lacey died 26 July 1908 at 9 Charles street Wellington from Chronic Bronchitis and Heart disease and Nicholas Lacey died 21 January 1923 in Wellington Hospital ,he had been at 21 Owen st Newtown and moved to the Hospital where he died of Gastro enteritis ( Stomach Flu ) and Cardiac failure, aged 79. They were both buried in Karori Cemetery , Mary on the 28 July 1908 and Nicholas 23 January 1923 , 14 years later.
Both certificates show the same number of children and because they emigrated in 1872/1874 all the children were born in New Zealand

Then I found a newspaper death notice for Nicholas Lacey, from this and the death certificates the following information was confirmed
Nicholas Lacey was born 17 March 1843 in Enniscorthy County Wexford Ireland, he and his wife Mary Jane Lacey arrived in Wellington New Zealand on the 14 December 1872 on the ship Jessie Redmond. Nicholas worked for the City Corporation for 47 years
Nicholas Lacey lived at 21 Owen st Newtown when he passed ,14 years earlier when his wife died he was living at 9 Charles street Wellington. Mr Lacey left a grown up family of one son and three daughters
Also of interest on this death notice was the word Larkin after his name
From this information I knew where Nicholas and Mary Jane Lacey nee Reid were born and where they had both past , I now had to work out how many children they had , who they were and who they married and if any children had come to New Zealand with them on the 14 December 1872 on the ship Jessie Redmond.

Thomas Lacey
Born 1872 Wellington NZ
Died 28 Jul 1902 at about age 31 in Sinclair Head, Wellington, New Zealand
Father Nicholas Lacey
Mother Mary Ann Jane (Unknown) Lacey
He was missing presumed drowned when a fishing boat overturned off Sinclair Head, 28 July 1902. The boat also had William Alfred Clout and his son William Clout , Thomas sister Jane married into the clout family
He is given as age 30 in the news articles about the boat overturning; suggesting he was born 1871 or early 1872. His father's obituary says his father arrived in the country in December 1872. This could mean Thomas William Lacey was born at sea, or perhaps just prior to the voyage. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a passenger log but what I did find was this ,his surname was spelt different
